Switching to a Dark Theme

2020-04-25

Today, I inverted the colors of this blog from a light theme to a dark theme. Personally, I feel that reading light-colored fonts on a dark background is easier on my eyes. More objectively, it turns out that there is evidence that the polarity of the color theme makes a difference for myopia. In particular, "reading white text from a black screen or tablet may be a way to inhibit myopia, while conventional black text on white background may stimulate myopia" (see "Reading and Myopia: Contrast Polarity Matters" by Andrea C. Aleman, Min Wang and Frank Schaeffel). Given this evidence, I have a good reason to change the color theme after all :-).
